Over The Rainbow Special Needs Riding Program, Curry County, Oregon

Over The Rainbow is a non-profit organization providing equestrian therapy and recreational horseback riding to Curry and Coos County residents with disabilities. Over The Rainbow maintains riding horses and special equipment. Riding sessions are held weekly, weather permitting, at three locations in Curry County. Ride-N The Rainbow is located in Coos County. Both programs are directed by North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) certified instructors. There are currently 11 riders, 15 volunteers and 3 horses in the program.

In addition to individual and group sessions riders may participate in the following community events:
  • Coos Adaptive Riding (CAR) Horse Show, June
  • 4th of July parade, Port Orford .
  • Curry County Fair parade, Gold Beach
  • Riding demonstration at the Curry County Fair.
  • Special Olympics equestrian events
  • 4-H horse activities
  • This service is provided free to all eligible individuals in Curry and Coos County. New riders are welcome to join the program. The staff is all volunteer. All income goes to maintaining and transporting horses and equipment. Over The Rainbow depends on donations and volunteers to provide this service.
