Boots age 12, who is the original veteran Magic Mooner. She was here at the farm even before us. Poofie age 2, and Sweet Melissa age 4 .

At Magic Moon we only have one llama, Joe. He is our sheep guard and is very committed to his girls! He happens to have an excellent fleece, making him even more valuable to us. Not every male llama is guard material. An effective guard llama has certain traits that experienced breeders need to know are present in the animal. Make sure you select a guard llama carefully, and choose a reputable breeder who is willing to stand behind it's performance to suit your needs.

These elegant chickens are Black Cochins. They are show birds and would be entered into Bantam class under the feather footed category. These sweet birds make great pets! Pictured are Coach and Missie our original pair, they are 5 years old. Cochins are very hardy & gentle birds. They are real friendly and make a great starter bird for kids interested in showing. The hens are great sitters, second only to Silkies for sitting on even other birds eggs becoming substitute mothers. Cochins come in a variety of colors, solid white, black, many multi colors, and a non bantam variety Cochin which is many times larger.

Lucy Lucy is a French Alpine dairy goat. Her mother is a great milk producer giving an average of a gallon of milk a day! Since she is our only goat we have never had baby goats. So we have missed the chance to get milk from her.

This is Phoenix, my very first Angora. He is a blue English Angora. His coat grows so long, (about 6-8 inches) most people who come by our pen at the sheep shows don't even know what he is. They think he is a cat, a dog, and one man even asked if he was a sheep! One little boy asked me, "hey... what is that fuzzy ewok looking thing"? This photo was taken at the Yamhill county fair, summer of 1999. Phoenix

Tabatha Tabatha is a white female French Angora with a wonderful coat! She is real sweetie pie! She is very low maintenance, her coat grows to over 6 inches in length.

Edna is an Araucana rooster. He was the first born from the first batch I ever hatched from an eggs. The chick was named after my friend Edna who helped and coached the delivery as he hatched out. He taught us the classic chicken lesson, counting hens before they grow up to be roosters. Araucana roosters are a gorgeous variety of colors. Due to the colored eggs the hens lay they are often called The Easter Egg chicken. Edna

Tarzan Tarzan, king of the coop. Although he is "the boss", he and Edna get along fine and have no problem sharing their harem of hens. We have Araucana, white leghorn, and Rhode Island Red hens. The Araucana hens lay green, blue, and even pink eggs, the leghorns white eggs, and the RI Reds lay brown eggs. Making for a beautiful mix in the egg cartons! Magic Moon eggs are proudly served at Alpha Farm and the Alpha Bit restaurant in Mapleton.
