Port Orford is the most westerly incorporated city and oldest townsite on the Oregon Coast, founded in 1851. The town features the only natural, open water port where boats are hoisted to "dry docks" daily. The Holly House Inn is situated in the old town and is within walking distance to good restaurants, art galleries, shops, a health food store, theater, the local fish market and historic Battle Rock. A short walk will take you to the local fisherman's wharf where fresh fish from the Port Orford fishing fleet is available. The Port Orford area offers excellent scuba diving, sport fishing, crabbing and beach combing. Nearby Garrison Lake is perfect for rowboat and canoe day trips. Storm watching is superb in the winter!
San Francisco Cronicle "Port Orford, the oldest settlement on the souther Oregon coast, is the center of a relatively untouched wilderness area, with beautiful beaches and unspoiled rivers and forests. We stayed at a beach-house bed-and-breakfast run by Francie MacLeod... Holly House Inn, a block from Highway 101 and two blocks from the beach, has a one-bedroom unit and a two-bedroom unit that sleeps up to six. Each has a living room with wood-burning stove, bathroom and full kitchen. They are full of quaint memorabilia, books, games and information about the area..."
