Gary's Landing Strip

This is a site of General Aviation interest, my first and formost love. The above picture was taken about one mile north of the airport at about 1,000 feet AGL (Above Ground Level) with the Rogue River in the foreground, and the Pacific Ocean to the right. The pilot and photographer were both me.

I took my first flying lesson at the age of 45, and now own my own plane. It is a 1966 Beechcraft Musketeer Sport III. I overhauled the engine in the winter of 1996-1997, putting the engine components all back to new limits, replaced accessories and hoses forward of the firewall. It now has about 750 hours on it as of March, 2007. The paint is in excellent condition, and I hope to redo the interior soon. When finished, I will without a doubt have one very pristine aircraft. As it is, I always get comments on how good it looks.

I was the Organizer of a very successful Fly-in and Pancake Breakfast for several years located on the Pacific Ocean in Gold Beach, Oregon at the mouth of the beautiful Rogue River. It featured Warbird displays, vintage aircraft, plane rides, helicopter rides, open cockpit biplane rides, skydiving, and up to 80 aircraft for the general public to look at. There was never any admission. I quit doing the fly-in in 1999 due to runaway costs, drastically reduced budget and burn out.
