While in college, he preached in two country
churches known as Hebron and Concord
in Northeastern Missouri, alternating Sundays between
the two churches. He spent the summer of 1960 helping establish a new

California He taught most of the New Testament Epistles, Life of Christ,
Bible Geography and Greek I from 1960-1965. The last 5 years in California
were spent establishing a new congregation on Grevillea Avenue in Lennox.
Because of cultural changes in that community, the church has become a
Spanish congregation of the church
of Christ (Iglesia
de Christo).
On July
28th, 1967, he was married to Sharon Herren
of Lennox (a suburb of L.A.),
California. She graduated from Lennox
High School and had completed one
year of classes in the Northwest College
of the Bible in Portland, Oregon.
In the spring of 1970, Ed and Sharon with their one-year old daughter,
Shirley, moved to Portland, Oregon

for that congregation. While there he taught some classes in the Northwest
College of the Bible.
They moved to Lincoln,
Nebraska the end of July, 1972 to
establish a new congregation there. They began with a newly-wed couple and
one other lady. Ed preached there for 17 years.
In October, 1989, the Werners
came to Coos Bay
to minister to this congregation. They live in the country south of town near
Coaledo on Highway 42.
Since November, 1986, Ed has worked with Churches of
Christ in Jamaica.
