Elder: Warren Thomas (Tom) Brainard

     Tom was born February 5, 1938 in Eugene, Oregon to Roy R. and Marie I. Brainard. He has one brother and 3 sisters. His mother lives in Turner, Oregon. His father and one brother have died. He attended eight years of elementary school at Eastside (now part of Coos Bay). He graduated from Marshfield High School in Coos Bay in 1957. He also attended SWOCC in 1983-1984. He grew up on Ross Inlet and still lives in the same house.
     Tom was baptized into Christ in the church of Christ here in Coos Bay by Melvin Traxler on November 4, 1956. He was married to Janet B. Sotin on May 14, 1960 in Coos Bay, Oregon. He rededicated his life to the Lord in 1975. He was ordained as an elder in this congregation on September 17, 1995.
     After his graduation from High School, he worked for Georgia-Pacific for 22 years, at Accra Print and then for Weyerhaueser Paper Mill and Roseburg Forest Products in Coquille, Oregon. He is now retired from Weyerhaueser.
     Tom and Janet have 2 sons, Tom and Roy. Tom and Patty have 5 children and live in Coos Bay. Roy and Annette have 2 children and live in North Bend. Roy is one of our deacons. Tom and Janet's grandson Andrew, has lived with them since he was 5 weeks old.


Elder: Gordon Ross

     Gordon was born to George and Joyce Ross on July 17, 1936 in North Bend, Oregon and has lived all his life on Catching Inlet, except for two years while attending Bible College.
     He attended Sumner Grade School, Marshfield Junior High and Senior High School in Coos Bay, and graduated in 1955. He attended Boise Bible College in Boise, Idaho in 1955-1956, and the Churches of Christ School of Evangelists (Now Northwest College of the Bible) in Portland, Oregon in 1956-57. There he met Wilma (Wiedeman) Gosser. They were married in Portland on November 10,1957, and have made their home on Stock Slough ever since.
     Gordon and Wilma have operated the family dairy farm since 1957 and Gordon is a former Coos County Commissioner, where he instituted prayer in weekly board meetings. Gordon was baptized into Christ on January 30th, 1949.
     Gordon and Wilma had 4 children: Dan, Bob, Marcia, and Debbie. Dan, who now is a pilot for American Airlines in Dallas, Texas, has a son and a daughter. Bob and Nanette operate a dairy farm in Lee Valley and have 3 children, Nathan, Meghan, and Evan. Marcia, who married Dave Nugent, is now deceased. Their children are Joshua and Jenny. Dave has since married Carolyn Madsen, and are raising Joshua and Jenny, as well as Elizabeth and Annmarie. Debbie married Glenn Gorst who owns Carquest in Coquille, and have 3 children, Tyler, Quinn and Lane.
