The Borzoi, is an aristocrat in the world
of dogs, a much loved sight-hound possessing an interesting character.
A running breed with great, great stamina and grace. Easily at home in
an apartment as on thehunting field. A diplomat in his home, and devilish in the hunting field. Just a grand brave dog, ready to meet the world head on. Lots of history around this breed. Recorded in the past by man's early record on stone, picturing hunter, horse, and hound. The Borzoi has been known in America around 1889, however it is believed Lafayette presented President Washington with Borzoi at least a hundred years before the later introduction into America. Another of our presidents, Teddy Roosevelt, hunted with Borzoi in our plains states many times. He wrote extensively about his respect for and his adventures with this amazing and clever hunter.

Sometimes there will be a special Borzoi available for special
people. I am also seeking Borzoi memorabilia that still may be with private families. Forgotten maybe, but those pictures and pedigrees could be added to the history we have now. What's out there? -- any addition for my archives is needed, welcomed, and appreciated. If you would like further information or can help me in finding Borzoi memorabilia, please contact me via the information provided below. |
